Julianalaan 36 Kaag
Kaageiland is an idyllic village on the Kagerplassen, where you can enjoy peace and quiet on the water the whole year round!
The name Kaghe or Caghe, which means “land outside the dykes”, first appeared in 1308. Villages sharing the same meaning include Koog aan de Zaan in Noord Holland and De Koog on Texel. Until the end of the 16 th century, Kaag was the largest village in the Alkemade area. Because it is an island, though, there is not much opportunity for growth and the existing buildings are therefore unique.
Kaageiland can be reached by ferry across the Ringvaart, which operates 24/7, and is only 25 minutes away from cities such as Amsterdam, Leiden or Haarlem, as well as Schiphol Airport. De Kaag is a relaxing yet lively location with character, partly thanks to the many water sports facilities, as well as being a very safe place to live.
One of the most exquisite houses on this island, located right on the water, has recently come up for sale. Part of the house is known as "The Old School". This is where children used to play on the road in front of the school, jumping out of the way of oncoming farmer’s carts. Behind the school, on the waterfront, the schoolmaster kept a vegetable garden. The Old School originally dates from approximately 1850 and was completely renovated in the old style and extended according to modern-day standards by the current owner in 1998.
The property consists of 3 components that have been rebuilt in the old style:
· The Old School.
· A boathouse with guest accommodations.
· A separate semi-detached house that is still to be renovated.
A charming designer garden surrounds the property, boasting several romantic seating areas.
This charming villa is situated on a very sunny 1285m 2 plot, and has a net floor area of 508m 2 ! (Incl. Boathouse). The interior and exterior of this villa are both in perfect condition and are in complete harmony with each other. No expense or effort was spared on the exterior and interior of the property, each part of which has its own unique atmosphere, as well as being in absolutely perfect condition. Many antique building materials were used in the design.
