Rare opportunity in Provence! On the market only for the second time in 500 years! The Mas de la Brune is a vast and emblematic XVI° century property in walking distance to the village Eygalieres. It is one of the last authentic substantial properties for sale in this area of Provence. Location, provenance and landscaped gardens This property offers a rare combination: Built by a noble family of the region, the Isnard, consuls of Eygalières and within the family for 15 generations, the Mas de la Brune is a listed Renaissance property with a remarkable garden recognized by the Ministry of Culture. A Historic Monument with a rare Renaissance architecture in Provence. The Mas de la Brune, a jewel of Renaissance architecture, is unique because it is the only building of this nature built in the Alpilles, Eygalieres, whose architecture was inspired by what was done in the Paris in the late sixteenth century. It includes a beautiful round tower with corbel and large windows with carved pilasters, not to mention a spiral staircase decorated with sculptures representing the four evangelists. This remarkable property enjoys an emblematic garden, the "Garden of Alchemists", opened up to the public until two years ago and which had been labeled Garden Remarkable. An exceptional property with a “soft” atmosphere With its vast dimensions the Mas de La Brune has been operated in the form of a hotel. It has kept its professional kitchen and the 800 m² main building has 11 comfortable rooms and a suite. A second building occupies 200 m². The third, an independent farmhouse of 200 m², offers, meanwhile, four bedrooms and a large living room of 80 m². The current owners have partially exploited the property as “bed and breakfast” until a few years ago and have then concentrated on turning it into a private residence. A haven of peace with its 10 acres park, swimming pool and many rosebushes, fountains and lavender fields. "We have passionately renovated and maintained this green and exquisite spot for the last quarter of a century years but the time has come for us to turn a page" explains the owner. A unique property on the market with a remarkable history. The Isnards were consuls of Eygalières and were very influential in the village. The Mas de la Brune, in fact, is the most beautiful country home of the Isnard family. Built in 1572 by Pierre Isnard, intendant of the Duke of Guise to oversee this region of Provence, its architecture was inspired by that of Paris at the time. The property remains in the family until Bruno Isnard, who dies in 1694, and his wife nicknamed "La Brune" inherits it, giving the place its name. The property passed from father to son until 1848. For more than 300 years, 15 generations, it remained in the same family. Today, this property appears for sale on the market only for the second time in 500 years! A History buff, the former director of the Villa Medicis that was built at the same time, wrote a little book on the Mas de la Brune and its gardens.
